Consumer advocacy group Citizen Watch called on the government to explore ways to address the ballooning deficit of the feed-in tariff fund’s and review the feed-in tariff allowance to lessen the burden to consumers.

“Insufficiency of FIT (feed-in tariff) payments should not be shouldered by the consumers anymore, who are already suffering as it is. We call on the government to explore other options in addressing the P7.378-billion deficit, to have an immediate review of FIT-All processes and to ultimately find solutions that will help soothe the plight of consumers,” CitizenWatch Philippines convenor Hannah Viola said.

Viola said the feed-in-tariff Allowance, or FIT-All, was proving to be an additional burden to Filipino consumers, already overburdened by the increase of prices attributable to rising inflation rates and oil prices in the world market and the weakening of the peso against the US dollar.
