CitizenWatch Philippines supports  Project Ugnayan

These are difficult times for the ordinary Filipino consumer as supply and transportation networks are severely disrupted by the lockdowns to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We believe that these are extraordinary times that will need no less than heroic interventions to cushion the economic shock hitting hard on our low-income families.

It is in this light, that CitizenWatch Philippines expresses our profound support for the Project Ugnayan organized by some of the nation’s most successful business groups in cooperation with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation. The project aims to fund and distribute P1,000 worth of grocery vouchers to 1 million Filipino households in poor communities in Metro Manila area.

It is but fitting to recognize the philanthropic support of (in alphabetical order): Aboitiz Group, ABS-CBN/Lopez Group, Alliance Global/Megaworld, AY Foundation and RCBC, Ayala Corporation, Caritas Manila, Century Pacific, Concepcion Industrial Corp, DMCI, Gokongwei Group of Companies/ Robinsons Retail Holdings, ICTSI, Jollibee, Leonio Group, Mecrury Drug,  Metrobank/GT Capital, Nutri-Asia, Oishi/Liwayway Marketing Group PDRF, PLDT/Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Puregold, San Miguel Corporation, SM/BDO, Sunlife of Canada and Suyen Corp. These business groups have raised over P1.5 billion to fund the program.

The project will initially work with Project Damayan of Caritas Manila and Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig Program of ABS-CBN for the door-to-door delivery of the gift vouchers. The gift vouchers are redeemable in accessible groceries and supermarkets.

CitizenWatch Philippines calls on business enterprises to step-up and join the growing movement for humanitarian service. Private enterprises have the capacity to mobilize resources to rescue your stakeholders who are now struggling to survive this temporary economic catastrophe. Help all your workers. Help all our front liners who are now risking their lives to fight COVID 19. Only a unified response will put a timely end to this crisis.
